Sussex surplus is Go!

We’ve now appointed and begun training our first group of interns - Abi, Louis & Josh - who are local young people with a passion for food and the environment. It’s exciting to have a team who can work together in the Bristol Estate Community Room in East Brighton. They will working for Sussex Surplus for 14-30 hours per week based on their availability and capabilities for 15 weeks.

The interns will be trained in catering skills in the kitchen by our chef, Ingrid Wakeling, and they will also be actively learning about food growing and gleaning through a weekly working visit to local farms and community projects lead by Feedback’s Sussex gleaning coordinator Rosie Linford. Alongside hands-on work in Sussex , the interns will participate in Feedback’s Eco Talent programme, which provides working opportunities to young people in the food and environmental sector.

The Eco Talent programme is managed by Feedback and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund as part of the Our Bright Future programme
